"Timrå, a team with proud hockey traditions, was on the rise again and at the time led on the ice by a young rising star named Henrik Zetterberg. Åblad played nine games towards the end of the season to help the team win promotion. But as Elitserien beckoned for Timrå, Åblad had to settle for the treatment table nursing a serious injury just as his contract come to an end.
"After four-five games (at Timrå) I badly damaged my groin. So during my short time at the club I was never really able to skate. I was offered a contract from a top Russian team that summer, but had to turn them down because of an operation and rehabilitation which lasted four-five months," says Åblad."
