My ranking of the World Cup teams (when looking at rosters only)
1. Canada 2. Russia 3. Sweden 4. Czech Republic 5. Slovakia 6. Usa 7. Finland 8. Germany
I think any of the top 6 teams can win. Finland's roster isn't very good and Germany, of course, has no chance at all.
One thing I want to clarify is that I think USA has a better chance of winning than Slovakia, because of the small rinks and experience, but still I put Slovakia ahead of them because individually I think they have more talented forwards. Like I mentioned above, it's my ranking of the teams' rosters.
Perhaps I have too much respect for the russians considering their goalie situation and Bure's absence.
Finally I'd like to express my wish for two more teams. There are nations that are just as good as Germany. Sure, they'd lose big time unless they have five skaters in front of their own net but still it'd be worth it to make the roundrobin games at least slightly more exciting. The fact that everyone is qualified for the quarter finals before the tournament starts just plain sucks.
